Trying on Trousers at Home

Welcome to Scavini, and welcome to our "Your first order" section. In this section, we'll guide you through the process so that you can make your first purchase with complete peace of mind!

In this article, you'll find our advice on how to try on your SCAVINI trousers at home!

I. Fitting

The moment of truth has arrived! Put on your trousers and fasten all the buttons.

Our trousers close at three points:

  • The first is the inside button. It's the same colour as the outer buttons, and it's right next to the fly. Not to be confused with the bra strap buttons, which are white and flattened.
  • The second is the middle button, above the fly, on the outside. It is buttoned with the small triangular tab.
  • The last button is a few centimeters further back, and is the only one visible once the trousers are fully buttoned.

These buttons are not used to adjust the trousers. They can only be buttoned in this way to ensure the trousers fit properly on your waist.

1st check: The waistband.

Trousers should be comfortable around the waist. They should stay in place without feeling like they're being sheared off. Also think about sitting down.

Are you comfortable? Do the trousers stay in place?

  • If so, great! You can move on to the next step.
  • If not, you can still go on to the next part and then look at part II.

2nd check: Pelvis, butt, thighs, calves.

Now that the trousers seem to fit the waistband, look at the rest of the trousers.

Do you feel any discomfort?

  • If not, then the trousers are the right size for you!
  • If yes, then read part II!

3rd check: Aesthetic.

The trousers are the right size, but do you like how it fits?

Are the fabric and color to your liking? What do you think of the fit? Perfect? Too tight? Too wide?

A pair of trousers with in the right size may look too wide or too narrow for your taste, depending on the cut. It's also a question of personal preference.

For example, trousers in the S3 / One-Pleat cut with too much legroom is a fit / cut subject, rather than a size one.

My trousers are too long! What can I do about it? As mentioned in the article "Should I order with alterations?", our trousers ordered without alterations are unfinished at the bottom. So if the trousers suit you, you'll need to have the length adjusted by your local alteration specialist.

II. Return or alteration?

The waist or cut of the trousers is not totally perfect. But is upsizing / downsizing the right choice?

Maybe a simple alteration is the answer!

Case 1: The trousers fits perfectly.

In this case, no need to think about it! The trousers are the right size and you like them. All you have to do is get your alteration tailor to alter the length and finish it as you wish (hems, cuffs, etc.).

Case 2: There is only one unsatisfying part.

In this case, your alteration tailor can, in addition to the length, make a few alterations to correct the imperfection.

  • Widen or narrow a belt that's a little wide or a little tight.
  • Free up space in the butt / crotch.
  • Slightly enlarge or shrink thighs or calves.

Don't hesitate to ask for advice! If he doesn't think it's feasible, you can return your order without regret. Sometimes this solution will have a better result than a size change.

Case 3: Several unsatisfying parts or one part is completely off.

In this last case, a return is just what you need. You can ask for a refund or an exchange of your order.

Depending on what doesn't fit, a change of cut or size may be necessary. Don't hesitate to ask us for advice on which of these changes is the most appropriate!
